AI and BIG DATA

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the hot term of past decade in industry 4.0.

It has many definitions, but we like to appoint one of the simplest. AI is the ability of a digital computer or computer-controlled robot to perform tasks commonly associated with intelligent beings.

We use AI in process optimization in heavy industry to:

  • automate repetitive learning and discovery through data,
  • adapt task/process through progressive learning algorithms,
  • analyzes more and deeper data,
  • get the most out of data,
  • reduce human error,
  • perform work faster than human,
  • include decision support systems.

When implementing AI model big emphasis must be made on aphorism: "A model is only as good as the data". We take this statement very seriously. Picture bellow shows steps to implement AI in process.

For example, from obtaining data from measurement devices to process innovation based on data analyses and deep learning based on AI. Therefore, for integration of AI models we must have bullet proof data otherwise we will get incorrect conclusions.

Integration of AI is usually connected to BIG DATA. Current usage of the term big data tends to refer to the use of predictive analytics that extract value from big data, and seldom to a particular size of data set. As big data refers to data sets that are too large or complex to be dealt with by traditional data-process application software.

In heavy industry there are many complex interdependent parameters and big data sets from sensors or machines that must be mastered for process control and optimization. This is the field where we step in and provide customized solution for managing data, implement AI solution and optimize the process.
